I just love Christmas Goodies, both giving and receiving! It is always fun to offer some variety and here are some favorites  (I also made donut snowmen but somehow didn't get a pic of those.)

Christmas Book Countdown

Only a week late to share our Christmas Book Countdown. I had good intentions, I even had this post started...but then the dreaded flu hit our home! I don't know about you guys, but every other week we are catching something new. I have rededicated ourselves to healthy eating and hand-washing healthy habits...I'm hoping this helps! So sorry once again, but real life happens and this isn't the first time I missed a 'scheduled' post, unfortunately its happening a lot lately. Oh life with a newborn (wouldn't have it any other way though)!

 

 Anyways, we decided to do the Christmas Book Countdown this year. I even made these super cute chalkboard labels (that can be used for anything). If anything...you'll have them to use next year or for another holiday. :)

Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwiches

Don't these Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwiches look divine? 

I am going to show you how to make these simple and delicious cookie sandwiches that add the perfect touch to this holiday season.

First off, you make your chocolate cookie. I used my homemade oreo cookie recipe for the perfect chocolate cookie.

  You can find the recipe here. (tip-if your cookie seems to "Fat" you can pat it down gently when it comes out of the oven to make it flatter for sandwich making.)

Now, instead of using the oreo cookie frosting in my recipe you can substitute it with slightly softened ice cream.  You want the ice cream softish...but not melted. Once you scoop it on the cookie it starts to melt fast!

Next, take a big cookie scoop and scoop on the ice cream. Then add a cookie to top it off. You'll want to work fast as these melt quickly and can be a bit messy.  

 After I put together each cookie I would set it on a plate in the freezer to start setting up immediately, then go back and make another and follow that process throughout. My sandwiches set up about 1-2 hours in the freezer and then I wrapped them individually in press and seal wrap and put them in freezer bags so they would be ready to serve. These are easy and quite the yummy holiday treat!

Christmas Decor

Well, I have put off this post because I was waiting on more pictures of some of my other decor including my son's personal Christmas tree. Its so cute, however, since the move I lost my usb cable to my camera...and my card reader just stopped working so I can't get my pics off my camera right now. So here is what I had pictures of already downloaded.

 The front door wreath, real pine and berries. I love it.

Ruffle tree skirt.

My mom gave all her grandkids these cute nativity boards last year. So fun for them to play with.

My new tree skirt...

I know, I know. I debated about even posting this because it is yet again another "ruffled" tree skirt. I almost didn't want to use it just because they are everywhere and I am kind of over them. But I had been planning to make this skirt for a while since our tree skirt was too small for our tree and it never looked right. (this was before pinterest bombarded my life with ruffled tree skirts) But I planned to make a tree skirt that would match the style of my tree, and I figured I would bother you with yet ANOTHER ruffle tree skirt. {cringe} I ordered nylon chiffon online at the same store I use to buy supplies for making pettiskirts. They offer great fast service and color selection. Plus, I have NEVER found nylon chiffon where I live, only poly chiffon which frays badly. I cut the chiffon in 5" strips.

I bought white felt for the base. It wasn't wide enough so I went and bought more...and sewed the two pieces together. Now my sewing machine is super old and apparently is on the fritz. It wasn't having my ruffler foot...so I pleated the chiffon by hand and fed it through ever so imperfectly. it won't show;) 

 {Yes, this project took like 3 or so hours because I had to do it that way!}

I just kept adding on layers as I went.

Final Product: I can't wait to go to upstairs in our monster moving mess(yep its been like 6 months since the move) and find our train and see how it barrels through the chiffon. :)
