Patriotic Cupcakes and Printables

How cute are these patriotic cupcakes?
These were such a quick and easy fun way to add some patriotic flare to our 4th barbecue last year. I see all these amazing 4th of July desserts that would wonderful, but sometimes you just don't have time to get too fancy. Just frosting these cupcakes in different colors did the trick with minimal work.
Even though I am a little late, I thought I would share my patriotic printables. I still love these. A few colors and styles to choose from.

Sweet Treat

I decided to make a sweet treat for my husband. He loves anything coconut and I have been wanting to try out the Barefoot Contessa's Coconut Cupcake Recipe. They were quite yummy. These would be a fun Valentine's Day treat.

Cupcake Recipe with creme filling

This Cupcake Recipe is one of my most favorites! It is so delicious and seems quite gourmet even though it is quite easy.
Gourmet...uh maybe not, but these cheater cupcakes will taste like them! These are my sisters specialty (of course she makes them from scratch), and everyone is always raving. If you want something fun and a little different than plain old cupcakes you gotta make these. {fyi....I love cream cheese.} I meant to do a tutorial, but I made these late at night and my desire for sugar caused me to hurry and not worry about grabbing the camera! They're super easy though.
Cream Cheese Cupcakes
First off...make your homemade chocolate cupcake batter (or use a box mix devil's food like I did!)
Then prepare Cream Cheese Filling: I used 1 (8 oz) bar of cream cheese softened (make sure its soft or it will go chunky!) and roughly 1-1 1/2 C. powdered sugar. I just added p. sugar until I liked the taste. (I'm a great cook I know) Mix well until its nice and creamy.
Cupcakes:
Fill muffin tins with cupcake batter until 2/3 full. Then drop a teaspoon of cream cheese filling into center of filled baking cup. (don't worry, the batter usually bakes up over the filling)
Bake as directed. Then let them cool on wire rack.
Frosting: Frost with your favorite cream cheese frosting. Here is mine.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick), room temperature
  • 8 oz of Philly cream cheese (1 package), room temperature
  • 2 - 3 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Mix butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add vanilla and mix. Scrape sides of bowl as needed. Slowly add in powdered sugar until you get desired consistency.

Enjoy these, they don't last long!

Halloween Cupcake Toppers & Labels

I made these cupcake toppers for our little Halloween party. I think they turned out pretty cute. I also made some bigger labels to labels other items on our food table. For these cupcake toppers I used my 2" scallop punch. I wanted the colors to coordinate with my Halloween Banner. I just stuck them in an old box to snap a quick pic of them since I won't be using them on real cupcakes until next Sunday! So forgive the awkward posing by my cupcake toppers. :)

If you want to download a pdf of these cupcake topper labels pictured above go here
biglabels
I made these bigger labels to tape to the front of food display items, but I think I may go back in and make them into tent cards as well so they can just be on their own. If/When I do that, I will come back and post a link to download that one too. Otherwise you can just use them like this and the backside will just be upside down.
If you want to download these bigger labels click here

Also just a shout out to deviant art, I got these halloween brushes from there a while ago and I can't find them to credit the artist now, but I wanted to credit the work because they did a great job on these cute photoshop brushes.
