Easy Fall Centerpiece using Burlap

Check out this super easy Fall Centerpiece using burlap. 

Supplies:

• Vase
• Fall Florals
• burlap strip cut about 2-3"
• Lace (I used 2" scallop from Hobby Lobby)
• Glue gun & sticks

First cut your burlap into desired width strip, I did about 3" and wrapped it around the vase to cut the length so it would wrap around the vase completely.

 Take your hot glue gun and glue burlap around vase.

 Take your lace and wrap it around the the burlap.

 Use a dab of hot glue to secure the lace over the burlap.

Next your ready to make and adhere your burlap flower. Here is a little video tutorial showing how I made the burlap flower. If you don't want to do this kind, you can use any burlap rosette or flower style of your choice...I just love the shabby look and dimension of this one.

When you're done making your flower, go ahead and glue it on!

Next add your fall florals and you have a lovely fall centerpiece!

Polka Dot Pumpkins

Here is a super easy and cute little Halloween Decor idea. I love these Polka Dot Pumpkins!

Supplies:

• Pumpkins
• Black adhesive vinyl 
• Scissors

I bought these white ceramic pumpkins and wanted to be able to use them for Halloween and Fall. I decided to customize them for Halloween...but in a temporary way so I would have a blank canvas again for my Fall/Thanksgiving decor. I went into my stash and found some black adhesive backed vinyl. You can find this at most craft stores!

I just cut off a little section to cut the circles by hand.

Now grab those scissors and cut some circles! If you have a craft cutting machine like a silhouette you can cut them out with that too. I have one, but honestly it was just easier doing it by hand!

Peel off the back and start sticking them on your pumpkin.

You have to press them down to get them to stay. And there you have it. Easy polka dot pumpkins that are super cute and also are easy to remove the polka dots for a different fall look. Love the versatility with the vinyl. :)

DIY Halloween Wreath

Today I'm sharing this super easy DIY Halloween Wreath tutorial. I love how classy it turned out. :)

This wreath is super easy and affordable...and I'm here to share a step by step tutorial for you to make your own!

Distressed Wood Sign {how to}

Today I am sharing a tutorial on how to make a distressed wood sign like this one I made for my son's bedroom makeover. I love this saying and I thought it would be the perfect reminder for my son to see everyday.

First start off with your wood of choice.

Next, I knew that when I distressed the sign I wanted it to have several colors showing through. So I started with a dark blue base color and started to paint. I love that this method allows for imperfections.

Spring Vase {DIY} past project

Well, I didn't write a What I'm lovin' post this week. I decided to just enjoy the last few days of my son's spring break and spend that time with him. So instead I thought I would share a favorite spring past project from a few years ago that will probably be new to many of you!

I love adding in touches of Spring to my home. Well, one morning after breakfast I was looking at our empty OJ container and I thought, "I love the shape of this", next thing I knew I was ripping off the labels and priming it!

First off, rip off the sticker and wash it out.

I took my metal cutters (only thing that would cut it) and cut off the top where the lid screws on. I was going to sand this to be a cleaner edge, but I got lazy and figured it wouldn't be that noticeable.

Next step came my primer. I used what I had on hand which was a kilz oil based primer. I coated it a few times. After that I got my blue paint sample I had for a spring sign I made, I then painted a few coats on. It still felt like it needed something so into the craft room I went hunting.

Ah...perfect!

Next up I needed vase filler and decided to go Mathew Mead style with blossom branches. I went out the backdoor about 2 steps on the patio and found my branch with several twigs to use!

I broke off a few of the small branches and went inside to find some blossoms.

I had this stem as a leftover to a floral arrangement I made. I thought it would be perfect so off came the blossoms. Just a light tug brought them off their stems.

I just glued them on randomly 1 by 1 with hot glue. Most of them fit onto the new spring buds from the fallen branch so they were quite secure.

Super Easy and I love the final product all put together and Spring-y! I loved this so much I used it for a table centerpiece for a church function and one lady even asked if she could take it home!

DIY Headboard {part 2}

I'm back with the 2nd part of my DIY Headboard tutorial. Go here to catch up on Part 1. 

We left off with the headboard completely covered in fabric.

Next working on the bottom left side of the headboard, I started to attach the nailhead trim. I bought a nailhead trim kit online. I have heard they are easier to use for a novice like myself, and are easier to keep a nice straight line. I bought my trim here, and you just lay the trim down and add the occasional nail in the "empty" nail spots provided. I used my household hammer and it worked fine.

I decided to do the outer edge first so I used the side of the headboard as a guide and lined it up as I went along. 

 

Around the corners I bent it a little so that it would contour to the corner shape. 

This trim kit was so easy to work with, I was so nervous but it really is so simple (and dare I say fun?) After I got the outer edge entirely covered, I needed something to help me evenly space the inner line to the outer line. I decided that my staple gun was the perfect size and guide and it worked marvelously.

I just kept measuring and moving it along. Pretty soon, I had the inner edge done as well.

And that's it, I love how it turned out.

Now just a few more updates and my master bedroom will be all finished.
