Just popping in with an update!

Well, I am sure you all can guess where I have been? I had my baby girl 2 weeks ago and needless to say I haven't really been able to get on the computer at all since then. I will probably be blogging here and there...but for the most part I will be holding my little one who doesn't like to be set down and who likes to keep me up all night! So sorry for those of you who have emailed me, I really haven't been able to catch up and respond but I will try to!
The short version: I went in to be induced and they started the pitocin at 8:35am, my doc came and broke my water at 9:45am, at 11:22am baby girl was born! No time for an epidural, I knew I would be fast but I wasn't expecting it to be done in under 3 hours. It was intense but we are so grateful for our little miracle. Now I am just trying to re-learn what it is like to be a mother of a newborn. I feel like I am starting all over again. Any tips to get your newborn to sleep in crib? Any time I set her down she wakes right up. :/

  1. Oh my goodness! She is just adorable! Congrats! As far as getting them to sleep, I never did figure out the secret. So, as I'm sure you know, just try to enjoy the time with them this little....it all goes so stinking fast(and hope for sleep really soon).
    Take care,

  2. Dear Marie~ Your baby girl is just precious! Congrats on your beautiful bundle of joy! I'm very happy for you and wish you all the best blessings as you undertake this huge responsibility and job of love. My youngest (of 4) is almost 28 so I'm years removed from having a wee one in my care. Here's a couple of suggestions to get her to sleep in her crib: Spray a very small amount of your perfume on her bedding, maybe in a corner or on a pillow she won't be in direct contact with. Also, you can try warming up the actual blanket she'll be lying on. Take good care of you too! Nap when you can ... just keep in touch with us on your blog when you can, and don't feel pressured or guilty because your #1 priority right now is you and your new baby. But when you do blog, please include photos of her! PS: What did you name her? Enjoy this time, it goes very fast!! Vicki A. - Chaska, Minnesota ~ victoria725mn@aol.com

  3. Congratulations. A beautiful picture of your newborn. As a mom of six, I can offer this small bit of advice on getting her to lay down in her crib. Warm a blanket in the dryer for a few minutes, take it out, and immediately place it on her crib where you will lay her. Then gently lay your sleeping angel on the mattress after it has been warmed (and you remove the blanket). Your body temperature is the best temp for her and she is familiar with your body's rhythms and sounds. Naturally, she only wants to be in your arms. But...sometimes moms have to shower and eat...and sleep...eventually, so this may help. Good luck!

  4. Welcome to the world precious girl and congratulations. Glad you are both well. I agree with the warming the crib and the scent. I used to spray a lavender mist thing and the scent eolved into a cue for bedtime. Also although my little man was not a reflux baby we found he liked his mattress slightly raised. They are all so different its only two weeks in, you will find your rhythm.

  5. Congrats on your adorable baby girl, she has such a beautiful face but how could she not. Enjoy every moment you spend with her, it goes by too quickly, my youngest is 34. :( My mothers suggested for me to use a light scent of lavender in the room since I bathed in lavender essential oil and warm the mattress with a heating pad before lying them down. I did that from the day I brought them home & if they woke up, I'd pat them till their tiny body relaxed again. Good luck with whatever you find works for you & your wee one...
