What's for dinner?

I got brave and tried a new recipe. Chicken Parmigiana is one of my husbands favorite meals. This recipe is a keeper!

Chicken Parmigiana (or as I call it, chicken parmesan)

1/2 C. dry bread crumbs
3 Tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 tsp. Italian Seasoning
1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 eggs beaten
4 Boneless skinless chicken breast halves (4 oz each)
1 jar meatless spaghetti sauce (or homemade)
3/4 C. shredded part-sim mozzarella cheese
1/4 C. shredded parmesan cheese

1) In a shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs. Dip chicken in egg substitute, then roll in crumb mixture.

2) Place in a 13x9x2inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 10 minutes on each side.

3) Pour spaghetti sauce over chicken; bake for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with shredded cheeses; bake 10 minutes longer or until chicken juices run clear.

NOTE TO SELF- Remember to half the chicken breasts.I forgot;) Those were way too thick!

Bedroom Help

My bedroom dilemma. When we were first married and finishing undergrad...we needed a dresser and so we went to the store and bought this little particle board miracle to share. I got 3 drawers, and my husband got 2. It has been a pain, but since we are still in school (a little over a year left) we have made due. We have thought about investing in a bedroom suite, but since we move so much we kind of want to wait and splurge on something nicer when we are completely done with school and our cross country moves. As you can see, the dresser didn't survive our last move. The bottom of the dresser frame broke so the bottom drawer wouldn't stay in....then came the next drawer up, finally under all the weight the middle drawer just broke this past month.

After checking local furniture stores and thrift stores, we finally found a solid wood dresser that I think will be great for us! It was a steal and just needs a little work with reinforcing a few drawers. Whats even better is that we saved $ on it, and I was able to buy an old 3 drawer bureau type thing that I am going to refinish as well! Pics of that to come soon...it is my weekend project! I think when we eventually buy our bedroom suite, I will repaint this bedroom dresser and put it in my craft studio! I want to repaint it black for now to match my bedroom...but I am pretty sure my husband will fight me, so it may take a little coaxing~! If anyone has any ideas or suggestions let me know.

Online Mirror- Bedroom Wall Mirror

This is one of my cute projects I wanted to share. When I found this mirror it was in sad condition at the peddlers mall. It was originally a brass frame (I think) but was then painted with a pinkish type of paint that almost felt like fingernail polish. It was all over the mirror. Then someone painted it gold after the pink. It has a texture to it, I am not sure if that was just a result of some crappy paint jobs or what, but even in this ugly gold mirror I saw potential. With a little spray paint, I knew it would be perfect in my bedroom that I am working on re-doing. So I bought this sad little mirror and about an hour later, I had my new wall find that fits in my damask bedroom perfectly!! If my walls wouldn't have been painted white I would have probably painted it heirloom white. But that black worked out great. Just goes to show that even ugly ducklings have potential right?

New Find

Look at this cute new find I got today at the thrift store! Totally has potential right? Its small, but I think it is going to look awesome with a little of my favorite heirloom white spray paint and a little distressing. I am not sure what picture I will put in it yet, but I think its adorable and my shelf will love this new addition! I will post pics when its done.

About Me

I just love crafts, I love creating things, I love being to keep my hands busy and out of the refrigerator! I am hoping to be able to share ideas with others and I am so inspired by so many other bloggers out their who were willing to take a little time and share. I am a stay at home mom, and aspiring portrait photographer. I have been married for 10 years and have one little boy whom I adore! We have spent most of our marriage as students so I have gotten a lot of experience on how to make a home your own on a tight budget. We just bought our first home and love making the space more unique and personalized for us, however with major student loans we still keep it simple a lot of my projects are geared towards budget friendly options. I also love to sew, scrapbook, and photography is a major part of me as well. I am always ready to try new things...and most recently re-started piano lessons! Hopefully you can teach old dogs new tricks. ;)
